Jan Byrski specializes in financial innovation law (FinTech, including payment, banking, capital and the insurance market), in legal protection of information (personal data, professional secrets), and IT and TMT, including in particular proceedings before the President of the National Bank of Poland, President of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, President of the Personal Data Protection Office, and administrative courts. He provides legal advice to companies and financial institutions operating on the Polish and international markets.
Career
Partner & head of TKP FinTech team. He is also a professor in the Faculty of Law at the Cracow University of Economics.

He is a legal expert at the Polish Chamber of Insurance and the Foundation for Financial Innovation FinTech Poland. He is a member of the IAPP (International Association of Privacy Professionals) organization and SABI-IOD (Data Protection Officer Association, Poland). President of the FinTech Committee of the New Technologies Law Association and Vice-President of the FinTech Committee of the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications. He is a member of working parties at the Polish Financial Supervision Authority Office on the development of financial innovation (FinTech).

Impact of forthcoming legal changes on the performance of creditworthiness assessments using AI
On 12 July 2024, the Act on Artificial Intelligence (AI Act) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union, as the first EU regulation in this field. Poland is also working on the national law implementing certain provisions of the AI Act and the act implementing the EU DORA.
