James has experience in a wide range of complex, cross-border corporate and commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings, as well as commercial contracts.
James originally trained and qualified in London and previously spent six months on secondment to Goldman Sachs, where he worked on a number of capital markets transactions. James has been located in Bangkok and has been supporting strategic investors and private equity clients with transformative transactions in financial institutions, energy, and broader infrastructure (such as digital, education and healthcare assets) in markets ranging from India to Japan since 2019.
James regularly advises clients who are making their first inbound investment in Southeast Asia and need help navigating the landscape, as well as clients who are already active in the region and need the support of a practical international counsel on their cross-border investments.
James is an active member of the firm’s Social Impact Group and is the pro bono champion for the Bangkok office. He regularly advises charities and social enterprises across Southeast Asia.
James holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from University College London, a Master of Laws with Business from BPP University, and a Gold Certificate of Achievement in Intensive Thai Language from Chulalongkorn University.
