Career

Jim specializes in IP litigation at the U.S. International Trade Commission, where he has litigated both as a partner in private practice and as a lead staff attorney in the ITC's Office of Unfair Import Investigations. Jim is co-chair of Perkins’ ITC practice and was lead ITC counsel in over 90 ITC investigations and several appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Jim has also represented clients before the U.S. Department of Customs and Border Protection and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative after the conclusion of the ITC proceedings to obtain approval for product redesigns. Jim has a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, an LL.M. in IP law and served as judicial law clerk for the Hon. Marion T. Bennett, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
