Jag Bahra is a senior associate solicitor in the Human Rights team and is among the most long-standing members of the firm, having joined as a paralegal in 2017.
Jag’s practice encompasses actions against the police and public authorities, privacy/data protection claims, judicial review challenges, and inquests into deaths in custody. He has a keen interest in cases involving police violence and discrimination, and cases in which the exercise of police and state power and privacy/information law overlap. He has in-depth knowledge of the lesser-known corners of the legal aid regulations, and has successfully obtained public funding in novel situations to ensure clients of limited means receive access to justice, often wrong-footing Defendants in the process. He is accustomed to dealing with clients who are vulnerable by reason of their traumatic experiences and strives to provide advice in a sympathetic and straightforward manner.
He is a member of the Network for Police Monitoring (NETPOL) Lawyers’ Group, Police Action Lawyers’ Group (PALG) and Inquest Lawyers’ Group (ILG).
