Career
Jacques Sluysmans' expertise covers both civil law and administrative law, as well as (economic) criminal law. Due to this unique, broad perspective, he is able to comprehensively assess and evaluate legal issues that span multiple areas of law. This provides an integrated approach that enhances the quality of his advisory services.
In addition to advising and litigating, particularly at the intersection of private law and public law, he assists parties in politically sensitive matters, such as parliamentary inquiries and legislative processes. In this capacity, he has been or is involved in all parliamentary inquiries since 2008, in the dossier concerning gas extraction in Groningen, in measures aimed at mitigating energy grid congestion, and in the protection of the drinking water supply. He is thoroughly familiar with the workings of The Hague, and many public office-holders value working with him.
Jacques obtained his PhD in Leiden in 2011 and has been Professor at Radboud University in Nijmegen since 2013. The interaction between academic research and legal practice generates valuable insights that also prove to be of significant benefit to clients.
In addition, Jacques is active as a binding adviser and as an arbitrator (NAI). He is, inter alia, Chairman of the Association for Expropriation Law, of the Assessment Committee of the Platform for Rights of Laying and Installation, and of the Supervisory Board of the Haags Historisch Museum / Museum De Gevangenpoort.
