Hobby Presley's public finance practice is national in scope, and he has served as underwriter's counsel, bond counsel, disclosure counsel, purchaser's counsel, and borrower's counsel for issues totaling well over $10 Billion in just the past several years. Throughout his career, Hobby has been an active member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, including serving as the organization’s President. Throughout his 35+ year career, Hobby has handled a significant number of healthcare merger and acquisition transactions, as well as represented borrowers and issuers in ruling requests, tax controversy, rebate, audit, and voluntary closing agreement matters before the IRS. Hobby has also been active in the Pro Bono arena, having served as counsel to the City of Birmingham in preparation for The World Games and serving as counsel to the Birmingham Rotary Club in financing for the Rotary Trail in 2015.

Hobby Presley has been distinguished by Chambers and Partners for many years as a leader in Public Finance Law, and his skills have also garnered recognition by Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Public Finance Law, Project Finance Law, and Healthcare Law. He was named by Best Lawyers as the 2011 "Lawyer of the Year" in Public Finance Law and the 2022 "Lawyer of the Year" in Project Finance Law.
