J. Clifton Hall III is a founding shareholder of Hall Maines Lugrin, which was started in 2000 as Westmoreland Hall. He practices mainly in the energy, property and casualty, construction, and professional indemnity sectors with a concentration on insurance coverage disputes, related commercial disputes, and subrogation matters.
Mr. Hall is frequently asked to comment on and assist in the development of new policy wordings. He has advised insurers on coverage claims in both upstream (offshore and onshore), midstream and downstream coverage issues.
He has worked on numerous professional indemnity matters for lawyers, accountants and nursing home coverages as well as general and excess liability, political risk and various types of business interruption (and LOPI) claims. Mr. Hall also represents non-insurer clients in a variety of commercial disputes.
His experience and pervasive knowledge of insurance-related cases has resulted in him arguing before the appellate courts of Louisiana and Texas (including in each state’s Supreme Court) as well as the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Hall has also tried and arbitrated cases in the courts of Oklahoma, Alaska, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Illinois.
Mr. Hall first earned recognition in the 2021 Chambers USA guide for “Insurance-Texas.” He has been listed in Chambers USA as one of “America’s Leading Lawyers for Business” since 2010 and is consistently ranked as one of the top leading lawyers for insurance coverage by Texas Super Lawyers. He has been listed in Chambers USA as one of America’s Leading Lawyers for Business since 2010 and has an “AV” rating in Martindale Hubbell.
