Ismail Askerov is a founding partner of MGB established in Azerbaijan since 1995. Over the past 25 years, Ismail has represented clients on some of their most significant projects in the energy sector and major infrastructure projects. Ismail has been providing comprehensive legal support to the international financial investors such as ADB, EBRD and DEG as well as energy companies on their involvements to multi-million projects such as BTC, ACG PSA, renewables project operated by Mazdar, project “Star”. The most recent experience includes advising and due diligence in respect of financing the borrower operating the major solar plant in Azerbaijan by the syndicate of international lenders. The project purports providing senior secured loans totalling approximately US$103 million to the borrower for the project, which is structured as a limited recourse financing

In addition, he has been regularly advising major oil and gas corporations such as Chevron and Exxon as well oil sector service companies the M&A matters, contracts and regulatory issues.

He has been continuously recognized as the leading (“top-tier business lawyer”) for Azerbaijan by Chamber and Partners and Legal500, leading legal directories.
