Career
In 1993, Henry started practicing law as a lawyer in Shenzhen, before that he had experience of working as an official of Dalian Habour and a lecturer of maritime and commercial law at DMU. In 1995, Henry established this firm as a founding partner. As a lawyer or an arbitrator, Henry has handled hundreds of maritime and commercial cases with foreign elements.
In 2006, Henry was appointed as the Dean of Law School of DMU, a professor of maritime and commercial law and a tutor of PhD candidates. In 2008, he reigned as the Dean but continued as a part time professor and PhD candidates tutor. In 2009, Henry was appointed as a guest professor of Shanghai Maritime University.
At present, Henry is a Vice-president of China Maritime Law Association, a Titulary Member of Comité Maritime International, a supporting member of London Maritime Arbitrators’ Association, and an arbitrator on the panel of China Maritime Arbitration Commission, China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, and Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre. Henry is also a member and a former Chairman of the Maritime and Transport Law Committee of the International Bar Association,an expert on the IMO Roster of Experts and Consultants, and an expert of ICC China Expertise Service. As a member of the Chinese government delegation, Henry participated in the discussion and negotiation of international maritime conventions.
