Graham Dunning KC has a full-time practice as an advocate in substantial international and commercial disputes, and has recently developed his practice in PIL and environmental matters.
Graham has appeared at all levels in the English courts from the Supreme Court and Pricy Council down, offshore and in many international arbitrations e.g. ICC, UNCITRAL, LCIA, LCIA India, SIAC, SCC, in seats across the world concerning a wide range of industries. He has successfully conducted long fraud trials, numerous appeals, Commercial Court trials, proceedings in the DIFC, anti-suit injunctions and applications for freezing relief, appeals in the Eastern Caribbean and Isle of Man and numerous arbitration-related court applications (including issues of state immunity, jurisdiction and state succession). His clients have included states and state entities, banks, major commercial corporations and high net-worth individuals.
From 2013-2017 he was Co-Head of Essex Court Chambers. Graham is widely recognised as a leading expert on international arbitration, and has been both awarded and shortlisted for the Chambers Bar Awards “International Arbitration Silk of the Year”.
Graham is often appointed, and sits, as arbitrator (sole, co-arbitrator or chair), having been appointed in more than 85 cases. He has extensive experience of disputes relating to investments in oil and gas, mining, trade in all types of commodities, shipping, energy, infrastructure, and shareholder and JV disputes.
Graham’s legal education was at Cambridge and Harvard; he took Silk in 2001 and became a Bencher of Lincoln’s Inn in 2009.
