Career
Gonzalo Fernández, founding partner of the law firm Gonzalo Fernández & Cía., is a highly-acclaimed litigator and arbitrator with over 30 years of experience. Prior to establishing his own firm in 2024, he was the head of the litigation and arbitration practice at Carey for over two decades.
He is widely recognized as one of the best in his field by legal publications such as Chambers and Legal 500. His practice focuses on high-stakes commercial, civil, and mining disputes in both domestic and international tribunals, including under the rules of the ICC and UNCITRAL.
A Harvard Law School graduate, Mr. Fernández has received numerous academic awards, including being named the best student and the highest-grade-average graduate in his class at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He has also served as a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and is a Civil Law Professor at his alma mater.
