Mr Godofredo Mendes Vianna has more than 25 years of practice and a wide experience in commercial law, with emphasis in shipping, international trade, insurance and energy matters, assisting clients in cross-border litigation and ADR; in addition, he advises on non-contentious

work. He also sits as an arbitrator and mediator in a vast range of international disputes.

Professional Memberships

Mr Vianna is the chair of the maritime and port law committee of the Rio de Janeiro Bar Association (since 2013); Immediate Past Co-Chair of the transport and maritime law committee of the International Bar Association (IBA); permanent arbitrator at FGV Chamber of Mediation and Arbitration; and professor and coordinator of the postgraduate maritime course and port law course at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV/RJ). Godofredo is a member of the Brazilian Bar Association – States of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo; the Brazilian Association of Maritime Law (ABDM); the International Chambers of Commerce Brazil (ICC Brazil); the Iberoamerican Maritime Law Institute (IIDM/BR); and the Association of São Paulo Lawyers (AASP).
