Gautam qualified as a solicitor in 1993 and focuses on international commercial arbitration and litigation in a broad number of areas. He was a member of Reed Smith’s global board, its Executive Committee from 2017-2023, and is chair of the firm’s India Business Team. Gautam was the founding managing partner of Reed Smith’s Singapore office.

Gautam has extensive experience of acting in international arbitrations under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), UNCITRAL, the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), the Swiss Chambers of Commerce, and other arbitration bodies. He has also conducted numerous litigations before the English courts, as well as cases involving the courts of many other jurisdictions.

He is named as a highly recommended and leading litigation and arbitration practitioner across several leading independent legal directories.
