Experience

He specializes in civil, commercial, company and contract law, the environment, natural resources and international and national project finance. Since 1983, he has been an advisor in the drafting of regulations on the environment, forest and water resources, environmental impact assessments, and regulations and contracts on electronic money and information transfers. He has vast experience in representing the public and private sector in mining, commercial, forestry, real estate, industrial and other matters (contractual, corporate, project finance, mergers and acquisitions, foreign investment, the environment, legislation).

His professional experience in the environment field and other legal areas includes:

- Counsel to the Production and Commerce Federation (CPC) and the Manufacturing Development Society (SOFOFA) regarding the Bill of Law on the Environmental Framework (Law 19,300) and the different regulations to that law (the Environmental Impact Assessment System, Environmental Quality Standards, Emission Standards, Decontamination and Prevention Plans) (1991 -1998).

- Drafted legislation, regulations and contracts on e-commerce and e-information and money transfers (1992 to the present).

- A speaker at seminars in Chile and abroad and author of numerous publications on subjects related to the environment, forestry and electronic money and information transfers.

- Associate Researcher and Executive Secretary of the Environmental Committee of the Center for Public Studies (CEP) (1991-2010).

- A member of the National Advisory Board of the National Environmental Commission (2000-2004).

- Legal Counsel to the National Geology and Mining Service (SERNAGEOMIN) of the Ministry of Mining on mining environmental liabilities (2004).

- Counsel to the Chilean Lumber Association on the Bill of Law on Native Forest Development (1991 – 1998).

- An arbitrator for the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce (2009 – present).

- A member of the ICC Task Force on Arbitration of Climate Change-Related Disputes (2018-2019).

- Advisory to the Ministry of Finance and CONAMA for the Review of Chilean Environmental Legislation for the Environmental Cooperation Agreement with Canada, part of the Free Trade Agreement between Chile and Canada, 1996-1997.
