As the managing partner of Tai E International Patent & Law Office, Fred brings over three decades of experience to his practice as a seasoned patent attorney, as well as a trademark agent, and arbitrator for years. His legal practice encompasses representation before the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO), the Boards of Administrative Appeal, and the Intellectual Property and Commercial Court.

Fred maintains active memberships in numerous prestigious professional organizations, including AIPLA, AIPPI, APAA, ECTA, FICPI, IBA, LESI, MARQUES, and PTMG, as well as the Chinese Arbitration Association and the Taiwan Patent Attorneys Association (TWPAA). He has also held significant leadership positions, serving as a Standing Director, Director, or Supervisor for both national and international associations, including APAA, LESCT, and TWPAA.

Publications

A prolific author, Fred has published numerous IP-related research articles in both English and Chinese. Complementing his legal expertise, he has co-authored five academic textbooks on medical microbiology and immunology, two of which are designated as official reference materials for Taiwan’s national examination syllabus.

Personal

Deeply committed to public service, Fred has served on the Taipei Biotech Award Review Board since 2007. TIPO recognized his significant contributions by naming him "Volunteer of the Year" for five consecutive years (2017–2021). Furthermore, he was named an Outstanding Alumnus of the Department of Life Sciences at National Cheng Kung University in 2017, a testament to his distinguished career and service.

Work Highlights

Fred navigates complex IP prosecution and registration for a diverse portfolio of domestic and international clients. He specializes in cross-border IP enforcement and patent and trademark litigation, while also serving as a registered arbitrator and mediator. Drawing on his deep expertise in Life Sciences, Fred has served as a panel expert and counselor for numerous government-funded biotechnology and medical IP research projects.
