Francisco’s practice is focused on all professional areas of litigation and arbitration law, while also having extensive experience in economic criminal law. As a lawyer, Francisco has been involved in some of Portugal’s most complex and high-profile cases in this area. Francisco is also experienced in mergers and acquisitions.

Career

Francisco began his career in 2003 as a lawyer at Daniel Proença de Carvalho’s law firm.

In 2008, Francisco joined Proença de Carvalho & Associados as partner. In April 2010, Francisco joined Uría Menéndez – Proença de Carvalho, as a result of the merger of the two firms. Francisco was a partner at Uría Menéndez’s Litigation Department between January 2013 and August 2024.

In January 2025, Francisco founded Proença de Carvalho, as partner.

Personal

Between 2014 and 2022, Francisco was coordinator of the Rock’ n’ Law solidarity project.

He is a regular speaker in training courses and conferences on subjects related to his areas of practice, and regularly writes opinion pieces in the media on Law, Politics and Economy.

He is member of the board of directors of the Benfica Foundation.
