Career
Florian is a partner at KNOETZL and one of the leading arbitration practitioners in Austria. Florian has more than 20 years’ extensive experience as counsel and arbitrator under the rules of the major arbitral institutions, including the DIA, DIS, ICC, ICSID, KCAB, LCIA, SCC, and VIAC, as well as in international and domestic ad-hoc arbitration such as UNCITRAL. He has successfully represented major engineering and construction clients in some of the largest and most complex disputes in the CEE and SEE regions.
Florian is listed in tier 1 in Chambers Global. He represents clients and serves as arbitrator in a wide range of industries, including engineering and construction, energy, the pharmaceutical industry, banking and finance, joint ventures as well as commercial and corporate disputes. A special focus of his practice is the international law on the protection of foreign investments. Before co-founding KNOETZL in 2016, Florian was head of arbitration in an international law firm.

Florian frequently speaks and publishes on international arbitration and investment protection. His most recent publications include a book chapter on “Quantum” in International Construction Disputes (A. Roquette/T. Proestler eds., Hart/Nomos, 2021) and a book chapter on “Dealing with Corruption” in The Cambridge Companion to International Arbitration (Cambridge University Press, 2021).
