Fernando Gandioli

Fernando is a partner in the Withers' private client and tax team.

He advises high-net-worth individuals, international families, trusts, and family offices on U.S. and cross-border tax and estate planning. His practice focuses on designing tax-efficient succession structures, guiding clients through U.S. inbound investment and relocation strategies, and resolving complex U.S. tax compliance matters, including voluntary disclosures.

Fernando is a US-qualified lawyer, and with over two decades of international experience, he brings a rare depth of cross-border insight. He spent six years in the Withers London office, developing specialized expertise in UK–U.S. tax and succession planning, and eleven years in the Withers Singapore office, where he advised on cutting-edge international tax and succession planning strategies. His work in Southeast Asia—particularly in India, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand—has given him a nuanced understanding of regional planning dynamics and multi-jurisdictional structures.

Fernando relocated to the Withers Milan office in 2024, where he heads the US Desk in Italy, and has been focussing on advising European international families. This has further deepened his ability to navigate continental European tax and succession issues, devising complex tax and succession planning solutions through the lens of U.S. law and planning considerations.

He is also a member of the task force 'Global Mobility' dedicated to assisting clients wishing to take advantage of the new Italian 'non-dom' tax system as well as other specific tax incentives for individuals relocating to Italy (e.g. the "impatriati" and retirees regime).

Since 2017, Fernando has been ranked in the international directory Chambers High Net Worth Guide as a notable practitioner.

Fernando is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
