Eliza M. Nichols

Eliza is experienced in all aspects of estate planning, estate and trust administration, and related areas. She helps her clients achieve their estate planning goals, whether simple or complex, and always aims to understand each client’s unique needs and implement comprehensive and appropriate strategies. She is adept at guiding family members though the estate and trust administration process, preparing estate tax and fiduciary income tax returns for estates and trusts, and counseling fiduciaries and beneficiaries with regards to both the routine matters and the more unusual issues that may arise.

Eliza is admitted in Maine.

Eliza began her legal practice in California, working at a large law firm in Los Angeles in commercial litigation. She later focused her practice on trusts and estates so that she could work more directly with individuals and families.

Eliza is a member of the inaugural class of the New England Fellows Institute of the American College of Trusts & Estates Counsel (ACTEC). Eliza is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for several years including in 2025. Eliza currently serves as President and board member of the Maine Estate Planning Council, and is a member of the Trusts and Estates section of the Maine State Bar Association. She presented on trust and estates topics at the 2022 Maine State Bar Association Conference and the 2025 Maine State Bar Association Elder Law and Estate Planning Institute.
