Edward Dowd Jr

Ed Dowd is a litigator who defends corporations, professional service firms and individuals in high-stakes, complex civil, and white collar criminal cases and investigations. Repeatedly recognized by industry publications for his work, Ed was named Best Lawyers® Corporate Compliance Law “Lawyer of the Year” in St. Louis in 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2022. He received the St. Louis Bar's 2021-22 Distinguished Lawyer Award for his work in securing a $790 million settlement for the St. Louis region against the Rams and the NFL. Ed represents clients with US Attorneys’ Offices, the SEC, DOJ, EPA, IRS, HHS and other federal and state agencies. In addition, Ed works with companies to strengthen corporate compliance in order to avoid missteps that result in investigations and trials.

Ed served as Special Counsel for DoJ's Waco investigation. He knows the intricacies of investigations and litigation from the perspectives of the prosecutor, investigator and the person or company being pursued.

As U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri, Ed set policy and supervised the professional and support staff in handling thousands of civil and criminal cases for the U.S. government.
