Career
Dylan is a partner in the employment and labour group at Carbert Waite LLP. He joined the partnership in 2019 and became a member of the firm's Executive Committee in 2022. Dylan served as a co-chair of the firm’s employment group from 2018 to 2023.
An accomplished advocate, Dylan represents individuals and corporations at all levels of Alberta courts, as well as before the Federal Court of Canada, the Alberta Human Rights Commission Tribunal, and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner.
Dylan advises both employers and employees on a wide range of human resources issues, including employment contracts, workplace policies, terminations, human rights, privacy matters, employee discipline, labour relations, union certification drives, and group dismissals. He also handles employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions and all manner of lawsuits and legal proceedings. Additionally, Dylan conducts and oversees workplace investigations involving harassment, violence, and discrimination.
Dylan is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars, including those held by the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR), the Canadian Bar Association -Labour & Employment Law Alberta Section-, and Carbert Waite’s employment seminars. He has also worked for the Alberta Municipal Government Board and served as Vice-Chair of the City of Calgary Licence and Community Standards Appeal Board from 2010 to 2022.
Personal
Since 2013, Dylan has regularly guest lectured at the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University on employment law and human resources. In 2022, he joined the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Law, where he teaches Law 561: Employment Law.
