Career
Ms. Hansberry-Bieguńska is a partner in the Hansberry Tomkiel, a firm that represents clients before Competition Authorities and courts in complex competition cases in Poland, Brussels and the US. Previously, she worked as a senior trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division as well as an advisor to competition authorities in Eastern and Central Europe. She was the general counsel of UPC Poland and went on to manage another Polish media company.
Her ability to harness facts, construct strategies and her unerringly grasp the essence of a case is the result of her extensive training in litigation techniques and her proven skills in antitrust trials throughout the US.
In addition to other types of competition litigation, Ms Hansberry-Bieguńska overlooks damage actions in Poland in which her firm represents plaintiffs as well as defendants. She has extensive experience in managing cartel and vertical pricing cases. In most of her matters, Ms Hansberry-Bieguńska works closely with selected economists. Moreover, she has drawn on her experience to collect the evidence and arguments to support Article 101(3) TFEU exemption defenses.
February 2023, February 2024, and again in 2025, she was the chair of Informa’s “Private Enforcement of Competition Law” conference in Brussels. In addition she was a speaker on the “Review of National Developments Across Six Key Jurisdictions” panel, where she presented the current landscape of private enforcement cases and rulings in Poland. The other five competition litigators provided similar updates of their respective jurisdictions.
Professional Memberships
With regard to her involvement in organizations outside the firm, Ms Hansberry-Bieguńska served as the Chair of the Irish Polish Chamber of Commerce for five years. She continues to be involved the Irish business community.
From 2029 through May 2025, Ms Hansberry-Bieguńska served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission. In her appointment letter, the US Ambassador to Poland wrote, “With your background in U.S. and Polish legal issues, your interest in U.S.-Polish educational exchange, and your extensive experience living in Poland, I believe you are well positioned to help the Commission continue to grow strategically as one of the premier Fulbright programs in the world.”
