Practice Areas
Donovan was called to the Jamaican Bar in 1991 and is also a Notary Public and practices in the areas of corporate and commercial law, maritime law, conveyancing, mortgage financing and securities, mergers and acquisitions, international trade and investments, sports and entertainment law.
He served as the President of the Jamaican Bar Association (2014 to 2016) and serves as a Member of its Commercial Law, Maritime, Publications and Revenue Sub-Committees. Donovan is the President of the Organisation of Commonwealth Caribbean Bar Associations (OCCBA) and is also a member of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association.
Donovan is the Executive Chairman of Subway (Jamaica) Limited, a director of the Companies Office of Jamaica and the Maritime Authority of Jamaica. Donovan serves as a board member of Citizens Action for Free & Fair Elections (CAFFE) as well as a Council Member of the General Legal Council, Jamaica.
He is an active Rotarian and a Distinguished Past President of the Rotary Club of Saint Andrew.
Donovan read for a Bachelor of Laws at the University of the West Indies as well as a Master of Laws at University College London. He also studied at the Norman Manley Law School, where he presently serves as an Associate Tutor.
He has published a number of legal articles and has presented on legal issues at various conferences in Jamaica, the Caribbean and worldwide.
