Career

Diane has practiced in the labor and employment area at Kilpatrick Townsend and its predecessor firms for over 40 years. During that time, she has handled the entire gamut of work in the labor and employment area, including employment litigation, workplace investigations, reductions in force, charges of discrimination, general employment advice, wage and hour, executive employment agreements and severance agreements, labor arbitrations, union organizing campaigns, and collective bargaining.

From 2007 until 2012, Diane served as one of two Firmwide Managing Partners for the Firm, which under her leadership merged with the Townsend firm to form Kilpatrick Townsend. As a result of the almost six years she spent in that executive role both pre- and post-merger, she has the perspective not only of a trusted employment advisor, but also of a business executive.

In recent years Diane’s practice has focused on workplace investigations, particularly into allegations against C-suite executives, and the negotiation and drafting of executive employment agreements and separation agreements. She gives advice on a wide range of employment issues, including most recently COVID policies, and handles executive issues in M&A transactions. She maintains a network of employment counsel she calls on in other countries to assist her clients.

Personal

Diane has served on many non-profit boards, including the Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Board of Councilors of The Carter Center, and the Executive Committee of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. She has served for almost a decade on the board of directors of Georgia Appleseed, a non-profit that studies social issues and advocates for policy changes to improve access to housing and education in Georgia. She is active in her church and is engages in pro bono employment work on behalf of a large number of non-profit organizations in the Atlanta area. Her interests include reading, travel and ACC basketball. She and her husband have one daughter who is a fledgling lawyer and another daughter in medical school, both in Atlanta.
