Derek Chua

Derek Chua is a partner in the Hong Kong office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Structured Equity and Finance Practice in Asia.

Derek advises global financial institutions, corporates, sponsors, and buy-side clients on a wide range of structured equity and finance, equity-linked, and OTC derivatives transactions.

Derek draws on his extensive experience in the Asia-Pacific region to advise clients on public and private transactions, including:

- Equity derivatives transactions such as swaps, collars, forwards, options, stock lending, repos, and monetization transactions

- Convertible and exchangeable securities offerings

- Margin loan and other structured lending transactions

- Other complex structured equity and finance and OTC derivatives transactions

He also provides transactional and regulatory advice in connection with structured products and OTC derivatives, and is experienced in structured finance transactions, including structured and repackaged notes and other complex structured products.

Derek leverages his in-depth familiarity with various markets across Asia to develop innovative financing solutions and novel, bespoke structures to help clients achieve their objectives.
