Deborah Reperowitz formed JustitiaADR to focus exclusively on ADR following 30+ years as a corporate bankruptcy attorney, C-level executive at publicly traded companies and ADR neutral. Debbie possesses strong business acumen and interpersonal skills and is known for her ability to neutralize situations and find creative, pragmatic solutions to commercial disputes. She has served as the mediator in more than 120 commercial disputes across numerous industries, often involving high stakes, complex issues and multiple parties.

Debbie has been a partner in the bankruptcy groups at “Biglaw” firms and also a founding member of a “bankruptcy boutique” that partnered with a private equity firm engaged in the business of acquiring and rehabilitating troubled companies. As such, Debbie has been engaged in strategic problem solving concerning all aspects of corporate finance and operations across numerous industries, including, financial services, healthcare, insurance, real estate, retail, telecommunications, technology, airline and manufacturing.

From 2006-2010, Debbie served as senior vice president, chief litigation counsel at CIT Group, a NYSE-listed company, where she established and managed CIT’s global litigation and government investigations legal team. During the financial crisis of 2007-2009 Debbie also assisted CIT in its restructure, involving TARP borrowing, revision of the company’s funding model and transition to a bank holding company, and the company’s historic 6-week pre-packaged bankruptcy.

In 2010, Debbie joined the winner of Morningstar’s prestigious 2009 Domestic Equity Fund Manager of the Year award to serve as general counsel to his investment management firm which had AUM in excess of $20 billion.

Debbie’s substantive experience includes: breach of contract; business torts; “lender liability”; fraud (constructive and actual); corporate veil piercing/substantive consolidation; violations of laws and regulations (financial and securities); lien priority and perfection issues; valuation; bankruptcy issues (examiner/trustee appointment, stalking horse bidding and “363 sales”, venue challenges, plan confirmation, avoidance actions, contract rejection (collective bargaining agreements, real property leases)); and equitable remedies (disgorgement, subordination, injunctions, specific performance, estoppel).
