David H. Wollmuth is a founding member of Wollmuth Maher & Deutsch and the Firm’s Managing Partner. Dave has unique and wide-ranging experience in both litigating complex financial disputes and advising clients in credit, M&A and securities transactions. Because of his years of handling all types of corporate transactions, Dave is skilled at identifying structural and drafting issues which are pivotal in litigations involving such transactions and which may not be apparent to litigators who lack transactional experience. Dave has particular expertise in such areas as private equity, bond indentures, corporate governance, and mergers and acquisitions and frequently handles both transactional and litigation matters in those areas.

Dave received his J.D. degree from St. John’s University School of Law, where he was the Associate Editor of the St. John’s Review and received the Outstanding Scholar Award conferred on the top student in the graduating class. Dave was awarded the Belson Medal by St. John's Law in 2023. He received his B.S. degree from C.W. Post College. Dave clerked for the Honorable Joseph M. McLaughlin for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Dave was also appointed Life Member of the Dean's Counsel for the University of Virginia School of Law in 2023.

Dave has extensive experience in complex litigation and arbitration involving business disputes. He has represented:

• Preston Hollow Capital LLC as lead trial counsel in its claims against Nuveen Asset Management LLC for tortiously interfering with Preston Hollow’s prospective business relations with municipal bond industry participants, as well as related defamation, and state and federal antitrust violations.

• Ambac Assurance Corporation as lead trial counsel in its objection to the petition for judicial approval of JPMorgan’s proposed multi-billion-dollar global RMBS settlement pursuant to a CPLR Article 77 proceeding in New York state court, resulting in a large separate settlement of Ambac’s objection and other disputes against JPMorgan (which was publicly disclosed at the time).

•Institutional investors and bank liquidators in more than twenty actions filed against entities that served as trustees of residential mortgage-backed securities. These actions assert billions of dollars of claims relating to the trustees’ failures to satisfy their contractual, fiduciary, and common law duties to address defaults under the relevant transaction documents.

• The Western and Southern Life Insurance Company, and its affiliates, in actions filed in multiple jurisdictions against the sponsors and underwriters of residential mortgage-backed securities. The actions involved approximately $2 billion of residential mortgage-backed securities and were all resolved by settlement before trial.

• ORIX USA in a dispute with the managing member of a fund to which ORIX had committed capital. ORIX obtained a temporary restraining order in New York Supreme Court enjoining $143 million in capital calls.

• American General Life Insurance Company and AIG Annuity Life Insurance Company (together, “AIG”) in a dispute relating to bonds of GLC Securityholder LLC. AIG was awarded damages at the summary judgment stage.
