David de Vries is a partner and a patent attorney at Cohn, de Vries, Stadler & Co. ( Herzog Patents), advising Israeli and international clients on patent strategy, drafting and prosecution, as well as design protection and broader IP decision-making across the innovation lifecycle.
He has over 30 years of experience handling complex patent work, including freedom-to-operate (FTO) and patentability opinions, and strategic counselling designed to align IP protection with commercial goals. His technical practice is particularly strong in mechanical engineering-driven innovations and adjacent sectors, including defense technologies, machinery, engineering, agritech, cleantech and renewables, construction engineering, medical devices, and water technologies.
David acts for a broad client base, ranging from large corporates and established industry leaders, through technology transfer / commercialisation units of academic institutions, to entrepreneurs and technology ventures of all sizes, tailoring protection strategies to each client’s stage, structure, and competitive landscape.
He is also active in teaching and knowledge-sharing, including delivering lectures on intellectual property in academic and professional forums.
