Daniel leads the competition practice and is co-head of the corporate practice in ROBALINO. He has unrivaled experience on antitrust and regulatory economic law matters including complex litigation in claims of abuse of dominant position, cartels and cross border cartels, unfair trade, gun jumping and type A and B leniency agreements before the Ecuadorian antitrust Agency as well as before local and Andean courts.
Daniel has more than ten years of experience advising and representing national and international clients in pre-merger control clearances with a unique track record of approval of complex transactions in multiple sided markets, pharma, ports, airline carriers, oil & gas, automotive, retail and several other industries. He also provides recurring advisory to large corporations in relation to antitrust compliance and tailoring of compliance programs, structuring of distribution systems, marketing strategy and contents.
In the corporate area, he focuses on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, equity investments and other strategic cross-border transactions. He has utmost experience in planning and structuring of fintech and other technology based businesses, including multisided platforms.
Daniel is the founder and executive director of the Ecuadorian Institute of Competition Law (IEDC) and co-editor of the Ecuadorian Competition Law journal. He is secretary of the Arbitration Tribunals of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Ecuadorian American Chamber of Commerce and professor of competition law at Universidad Hemisferios.
