Christopher has been with NTD Intellectual Property Attorneys for more than 34 years since 1990 and has litigated many complex intellectual property cases and frequently represented his clients before courts and administrative agencies in China. He also counsels clients and provides legal services in all areas of intellectual property (“IP”) including enforcement strategies, licensing, dispute resolutions before administrative and judicial authorities, patent law, design law, trademark law, copyright law, trade secrets, unfair competition, domain name disputes, and patent prosecution.

Representative cases:

 NO.9 of the 2018 Top 10 Cases of Patent Reexamination & Invalidation published by the Reexamination Board of the State Intellectual Property Office in 2019

The case of invalidation of utility model patent entitled as ‘Chemical Vapor Deposition Device.”

The case further interpreted the examination concept of accurately grasping the essence of technology in judging creativity, reflecting the significant role of technical conception in creativeness evaluation， according to CNIPA’s observation when the case was honored.

 NO.7 of the Top 10 Typical Cases of Fujian Court in 2018 (concluded in settlement)

Dispute over infringement of utility model patent between Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment Inc. (Shanghai, China) and Veeco Instrument Shanghai Co., Ltd.

 NO.7 of the Top 10 Typical Intellectual Property Cases of Jinan Court in 2021

The case of invention patent infringement on ‘Palbociclib API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients)’. The case was tried and decided by no involving complicated judicial appraisal process, reducing the litigation burden and expenses of the parties, according to Jinan Court‘s observation when the case was honored.

 The Infringement Case of Patent entitled ‘Interlocking Intramedullary Nail’-100 typical cases of five years after founding of the Intellectual Property Tribunal of the Supreme People‘s Court (2024); Recorded in the White Paper on The Judicial Protection of Intellectual Property Rights in Chinese Courts in 2021 issued by China Supreme Court

The SPC awarded the full amount of RMB 20 million in damages claimed by the foreign right holder in the case of patent infringement for the “locking intramedullary nail” invention patent based on the refusal of submitting account books from the infringer. Therefore, the legitimate rights and interests of the foreign litigants were fully protected. China has increasingly become a reliable and trustworthy forum for international IP litigation.
