Chris is a Singapore qualified dispute resolution lawyer with a substantial experience in commercial disputes. He is an experienced lead counsel who has successfully argued cases at all levels of the Singapore Courts (including its highest court, the Court of Appeal), in arbitrations (both international and domestic) and in adjudications.
Over the last two decades, Chris has developed a market reputation as a go-to lawyer for banking, construction and natural resources disputes.
He has an enviable win record for high-net-worth individuals against financial institutions and is involved in some of the largest private banking cases in Singapore. In 2018, Chris represented an ultra-high-net-worth individual in a claim for more than US$250 million in a Singapore High Court trial against a large international bank.
Chris is an accredited Senior Accredited Specialist (Building & Construction) by the Singapore Academy of Law and acts for some of the largest international and domestic players in the construction sector, and works on many of the biggest projects in Singapore. These range from private sector projects such as Resorts World Sentosa, to public sector projects such as the Mass Rapid Transit, the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System, and the North-South Corridor. He is an experienced counsel in high value construction arbitrations and has been involved in more than 100 adjudications and adjudication reviews since 2013, with the largest being S$116 million (which remains one of the largest to date). Chris is an accredited adjudicator with the Singapore Mediation Centre, an editor of the Singapore Construction Adjudication Review and a member of the Singapore Mediation Centre’s Training Faculty Committee for adjudicators.
Chris regularly represents resource owners in mining disputes outside Singapore and also acts for traders in supply disputes for a variety of commodities such as coal and sulphur.

Construction
• Representing various parties in adjudication proceedings commenced under the Building and Construction Authority Security of Payment Act. Since 2013, Chris has been involved in more than 100 adjudication applications and adjudication reviews with a total claim of more than half a billion dollars
• Representing a contractor in an arbitration in relation to an airport project in Singapore with claims and counterclaims in excess of S$100 million
• Representing the former owners of a casino in Cambodia to defend a claim in arbitration for more than US$240 million.
• Representing and advising a substantial contractor in claims in relation to an integrated resort in Singapore against both the employer and subcontractors with total claims in excess of S$200 million
Natural Resources
• Representing the owners of a substantial Indonesian coal mine against their off-take partner in a series of four international arbitrations and related court proceedings in the Singapore High Court with total claims in excess of US$100 million
• Representing the owners of a substantial Indonesian copper/gold mine in a substantial dispute with their foreign investors
• Representing a number of international traders in various arbitration claims (under the ICC Rules and SIAC Rules) against their upstream sellers and downstream buyers in relation to various contacts on the sale and purchase of coal and sulphur
• Advising a Singapore joint venture company in the SEA energy sector in relation to various disputes between its UK, PRC and Singapore shareholders
