Christian Karbaum is a partner at GLADE MICHEL WIRTZ in the COMPETITION practice. He advises international clients on German and European competition law. His practice focuses on merger control proceedings, cartel investigations, compliance advice and antitrust litigation. His litigation practice particularly includes the enforcement and defence of cartel damages claims as well as claims in the context of dominance, e.g. regarding standard essential patents or supply, access or licence claims. In the field of compliance, he implements and evaluates compliance organisations and provides ongoing antitrust advice e.g. in the context of cooperation between competitors.
Christian Karbaum studied law at the University of Osnabrück, where he acts as lecturer, and at the Université Paris-Est. His doctorate thesis regarding "Competition law compliance – Legal foundations and implementation" was sponsored with a scholarship from the "Business and Law Working Group" in the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft. He has been admitted to the bar since 2010 and started his career at GLADE MICHEL WIRTZ.
Christian Karbaum is a founding member and academic advisor of the CUR Centre for Corporate Law at the University of Osnabrück e.V., a member of the Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht e.V. and of the C.L.F. Competition Litigation Forum e.V.
