Christian Aschauer has extensive experience across a broad range of industry sectors, including engineering projects, technical equipment, mergers and acquisitions, energy, the automotive industry, IT and telecommunications, transportation, construction, defence, distributorship agreements, commodity trading, medical devices, joint property disputes, as well as private client matters. His practice spans disputes of varying size and complexity, with amounts in dispute reaching in excess of EUR 100 million.
Career
Christian Aschauer has acted as arbitrator in more than 70 arbitrations, most frequently as chairman or sole arbitrator, and is widely regarded as a safe and reliable choice for complex and high‑stakes disputes. He was admitted to the Austrian Bar in 1999.
From 2014 to 2025, he taught Austrian arbitration law and international arbitration as a university professor at the University of Graz. He has firmly established himself within the international arbitration community, including through his service as a Member of the Council of the Milan Chamber of Arbitration from 2017 to 2023. Christian Aschauer is currently a Member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration. He has been operating his own firm since 2016 and is supported by a highly qualified administrative secretariat, led by Jakob Secklehner.
