Charles Zhan is a Partner and the Head of our International Trade practice at Moulis Legal. He is a well-recognised leading international trade lawyer.
Charles has been the lead lawyer for our clients in many trade remedy proceedings and providing advice regarding trade regulation and practices for over a decade. He has had significant interaction with client enterprises and government officials in anti-dumping and countervailing representation, including submission development and writing.
Charles has extensive experience advising both private and public sectors clients in matters concerning the implementation of and compliance with the WTO Agreements. He has argued cases before the Anti-Dumping Review Panel, the Federal Court, the High Court of Australia, and at the World Trade Organization.
Charles has dual Australian and Chinese legal qualifications. He has represented major international companies operating in a range of industries, including in the agricultural, aluminium, automobile, chemical, electrical, energy, engineering, glass, paper, renewable, and steel sectors. He has a superior understanding of the dynamic trade, investment and business issues at both policy and legal levels.
Charles also leads Moulis Legal’s “China desk” with respect to a broad range of commercial matters including competition, investment, and cross-border disputation and enforcement. He is the Immediate Past Vice-President of the ACT chapter of Australia China Business Council, and is presently the Co-Chair of the International Trade and Customs Law Committee of the International Bar Association.
