Practice Areas

Charles has a wealth of experience in cross-border and international arbitration and litigation, covering mainstream commercial, commercial-chancery and company disputes as well as construction, insolvency, insurance, trusts and professional negligence matters.

He acts regularly for firms and clients based in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, the Americas, Caribbean (particularly the Turks and Caicos and Bahamas) and the Far East. Much of Charles’ practice involves working with foreign Counsel, foreign law experts and with conflicts of laws issues.

Charles also accepts instructions to act as an expert of English law in foreign proceedings, serving recently in proceedings before a Russian Court of Appeal.

At the start of his career, Charles spent three years in the International Arbitration and Litigation Group of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom (UK) LLP. He has great experience working with clients, within a firm team and of advising and working on case management (including electronic data management) in document heavy cases of the highest value. He is author of Electronic Disclosure: Law & Practice (OUP).

A member of the Middle Temple International Sub-Committee, Charles speaks regularly at international events including recently, the English-Cypriot Law Day, the Legal Business Arbitration Summit and also CDR Arbitration Summit.
