Career
With over 30 years of experience, Cedric Alter is known for his strong track record in restructuring and insolvency, business law, and commercial litigation, including arbitration.
Cédric joined Nicolas Vanderstappen and Laurent Robert to launch ALTER - VANDERSTAPPEN - ROBERT, a Brussels-based boutique law firm dedicated to complex business situations and strategic legal challenges.
The firm is structured around three core practice areas:

Cédric Alter was previously a partner with Janson, where he co-headed the Insolvency team and the Dispute Resolution Department, a Special European Counsel at Wilkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, as well as associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Stibbe.
Cédric is a professor of Business law at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management at the ULB.
He is also co-editor in chief of the main Belgian legal journal on Restructuring & Insolvency (Revue des Entreprises en Difficulté, REDI).
Professional Memberships
Cédric Alter regularly acts in judicial and arbitration proceedings (as counsel or arbitrator), and is a member of the Belgian Centre for Arbitration and Mediation (CEPANI) and of the ICC.
He is also co-president of the CAP Network, which brings together insolvency professionals, and secretary of the Insolvency section of the International Bar Association.
Publications
Cédric Alter is the author/co-author of numerous publications in insolvency, contract law, banking and corporate law. He is the author or co-author of several books, including "Insolvabilité des entreprises" (Larcier, 2019), "Droit bancaire général" and "La loi sur la continuité des entreprises revisitée par la loi du 27 mai 2013" (Larcier, Dossier du JT, 2014).
