Catherine is a specialist in Chinese litigation laws. She has been concentrating on commercial dispute resolution and her clients include Inter-government Organization, companies and individuals from the U.K., U.S., Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Italy, South Africa, Kenya, South Korea and other countries.
Catherine started her lawyer’s career in 2003. She was recommended by the Chinese Ministry of Justice and selected by The Law Society of England and Wales to participate in a 10-month Lord Chancellor’s Training Scheme for young Chinese lawyers in London in 2010.
Before beginning her legal practice, Catherine had worked as a journalist in the Xinhua News Agency and China Central Television (CCTV) for 10 years.
Civil & Commercial Dispute Resolution:
• Representing customer in product quality responsibility litigation against Tesla for the globally first driver’s death under Autopilot mode happened in China in January 2016
• Representing Danone’s Chinese subsidiaries in a series of product quality responsibility litigation cases against professional challengers on food components and labels
• Representing Mr. Steven CAO, former China CEO of Edelman Public Relations Worldwide Co., Ltd., the world’s largest public relations corporation, in employment and shareholder’s dispute negotiation with Edelman
• Representing China Network Television (CNTV) in IP rights dispute resolution against telecom technology companies in various regions
• Representing a Chinese coal group company jointly with English barrister on purchase and sale contract dispute in international arbitration against Singapore company
• Representing a South African company in contract fraud litigation case against a Chinese company in Chinese court
• Representing Ms. Cecilia Lindqvist, Chairwoman of Sweden-China Friendship Association, in contract dispute resolution with a Chinese publishing house
Criminal Defense:
• Representing the Chairman of Board of a movie producing company in suspected tax evasion and money laundering crimes against police’s investigation and gained innocence for the client
• Defender of the Chairman of Board of Zhongshan Sigcess Group Company, accused for crime of organizing and leading Pyramid sales activities
• Providing legal guide to a Shanghai IT technology company during police’s investigation for suspected crime of infringing copyrights and gained innocence for the client
• Defender of Mr. Wei, a calligraphy and painting artist, in suspected crime of swagger and swindle and gained state compensation upon the prosecutor’s withdrawal of accusation during court trial process
