Caroline Gaul advises national and international companies in the area of technology, IT and data law. Her main areas of practice include advising on IT contract law and assisting in contract negotiations, data protection compliance under the Data Protection Regulation of the EU (GDPR) and under Swiss law, as well as supporting projects in connection with artificial intelligence. A particular focus of her work is on the design of data-based, digital business models and platform solutions as well as their ongoing advice.

She has been advising on Swiss law since 2015 and also has many years of professional experience as a German lawyer in a larger commercial law firm in Frankfurt am Main. She acquired in-depth industry knowledge in the IT sector through several in-house secondments at a global software group.

Caroline is deputy chairperson of the German Society for Law and Information Technology (DGRI), co-founder and co-president of the Swiss Women in IT Law Association. In addition, Caroline Gaul regularly publishes and speaks on topics in the field of tech, artificial intelligence, data and digitalization. Among other things, she is co-author regarding the data protection provisions of the Anti-Money Laundering Act for the Basel Commentary and contributed to the first non-profit open access commentary on data protection law in Switzerland (soon to be published).

Caroline Gaul is a member of the Frankfurt Bar Association and, pursuant to Art. 28 BGFA, is registered on the public list of nationals of Member States of the EU or EFTA who are permanently permitted to represent parties before judicial authorities in Switzerland under their original professional title.
