Carlos Alvarado has almost 20 years of experience in dispute resolution, including litigation and international arbitration, with a practice focused on complex, high-value and cross-border disputes. He has acted as counsel, arbitrator and tribunal secretary in proceedings spanning a wide range of industries, and he has strong experience before Mexican national courts, including in court proceedings in aid of arbitration such as interim relief, enforcement and set-aside proceedings. His arbitration experience covers institutional rules including the ICC, LCIA, LMAA, ICDR, CAM and CANACO.

Before founding Alvarado Moreno Abogados, Carlos spent a decade at a leading international law firm, including a secondment to its London office in 2017.

Carlos is an active contributor to the arbitration community. He co-edited Arbitration in Mexico (Kluwer Law International, 2024) with Dr. Gloria Álvarez, a book presented at the 22nd ICC Miami Conference by Claudia Salomon, President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration. He has held leadership roles including Co-Chair of the Spanish Club of Arbitration -40 (2020–2022) and Chair of the CAM-CANACO Young Arbitrators Forum (2018–2020). He is currently Vice-Coordinator of the Commercial Law Commission of the Mexican Bar Association.

Carlos holds an LLM in International Arbitration from Queen Mary University of London and a Master's in Finance from EGADE Business School, and is currently completing a PhD in Civil Law at the Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas de la UNAM.
