Boon Tat is a construction and infrastructure lawyer with over 20 years of experience, and is jointly qualified in Singapore and England & Wales. He has acted on disputes involving public infrastructure projects, oil refineries & petrochemical plants, power plants, water treatment facilities, and commercial & residential developments in Singapore, China, Taiwan and Vietnam.
He also advises clients on non-contentious matters in construction projects ranging from tender documentation and process, contract documentation, procurement and project-life risk management & dispute avoidance.

• Representing a consortium of international engineering and construction companies in a US$400m claim in a SIAC arbitration arising out of the construction of a multi-billion US$ oil refinery in Southeast Asia.
• Representing a leading Southeast Asian engineering and construction company in a claim exceeding S$100m against a statutory body in a SIAC arbitration arising out of an unground expressway project in Singapore.
• Representing a leading Southeast Asian engineering and construction company in a S$46m claim against a statutory body in a SIAC arbitration arising out of a public transportation infrastructure project in Singapore.
• Representing an international contractor in the defence of a a S$35m claim in a SIAC arbitration brought by a specialist sub-contractor arising out of the construction of an airport terminal in Singapore.
• Representing a a state petroleum corporation in the defence of a claim exceeding US$20m in an ICC arbitration brought by a main contractor arising out of the construction of a petrochemical plant in Taiwan, R.O.C.
• Advising a marine engineering contractor in a US$65m claim against a state-owned company arising out of a project to install new offshore wells in Vietnam.
• Advising a PRC power cable manufacturer in a S$32m claim against a contractor arising out of a public project to install power cables in Singapore.
Contentious – Court Litigation
• Representing a specialist roofing contractor in a S$14m claim in the Singapore High Court against a supplier for breach of contract arising out of the construction of a multi-billion dollar Integrated Resort in Singapore.
• Representing a GLC developer in the defence of a S$12m claim brought by a façade contractor in the Singapore High Court for breach of contract arising out of the construction of a major government project in Singapore.
• Representing contractors in the defence of prosecutions brought by regulatory authorities in the Singapore State Courts in relation to charges for statutory offences committed during the carrying out of construction works in Singapore.
Non-Contentious
• Advising international contractors involved in public infrastructure works on project risk management during the life-time of the projects.
• Advising the main contractor in a project to develop an airport runway in Singapore on matters relating to supply chain disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
• Advising the project owner on matters arising out of an EPC project relating to the development of a US$50m Sulphur Pellestising Plant in Singapore.
• Advising a European industrial equipment supplier on the contract documentation relating to the supply of specialised piping systems for the construction of a pharmaceutical production facility in Singapore.
• Advising a main contractor in an Integrated Resorts project in Singapore on contract documentation and the management of risk through the project, from contract inception stage through completion of construction.
• Advising on and drafting construction contracts, consultancy contracts, assignments, performance bonds, guarantees, indemnities and warranties.
