Ben co-heads Fox Williams' international arbitration team and represents clients in commercial disputes across a wide range of sectors, including technology, energy, natural resources, construction, infrastructure, commodities and professional services.
Ben is a commercial disputes lawyer with a broad range of experience in litigation, mediation and expert determination, and he has particular expertise in international commercial arbitration.
He has advised clients on issues arising from contracts in many different industries, including technology, oil & gas, LNG, renewables, construction, mining, M&A, commodities, shipping and professional services. He has worked on disputes all over the world, including in Africa, Europe, the Gulf region and Asia. For seven years he was based in Singapore as the Head of Arbitration in Asia for an international law firm, and he worked on disputes across the Asia-Pacific, especially relating to India, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, China and Australia.
In November 2022, he was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). The Board is responsible for the strategic direction of the CIArb and for the management and control of all its affairs. Click here to view more information on his election.
Ben is a Chartered Arbitrator and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and is a former Chair of the London Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He has been appointed as arbitrator on over 30 occasions and he is on the panels of arbitrators of several arbitration institutions throughout the world.
Ben is ranked as a leading individual in the international arbitration sections of various legal directories including Chambers UK 2023 and Legal 500 UK 2023. He is also recognised as a Global Leader and a Thought Leader by Who’s Who Legal’s Arbitration 2022 guide.
Recent publications he has contributed to include International Arbitration in England, in which he wrote a chapter on ‘The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Membership Organisations: Future Vision’.
