Barbara Miller’s broad practice is focused on communications, mergers and acquisitions, agribusiness law, corporate governance, public private partnerships and infrastructure projects, and general corporate/commercial matters.
Barbara represents clients on international, cross border and domestic mergers and acquisitions, as well as in connection with restructuring and infrastructure transactions. Her expertise includes providing advice with the structuring of joint venture, partnership and shareholder arrangements, and corporate reorganizations generally. She also actively advises on agreements for the manufacturing, supply, and licensing of goods and services, frequently on behalf of US and other non-Canadian entities, as well as on related regulatory matters, including those applicable to the Canadian nuclear industry.
Previously serving as Co-Chair of the firm’s Communications practice group, Barbara has acted for clients on leading investments, acquisitions, dispositions and financings of telecommunications and broadcasting entities in Canada. Barbara also provides general regulatory advice to local and global members of the communications industry and guides them in their dealings with Canadian regulatory authorities. Involved in film financings, and domestic and international production and co-production agreements, Barbara assists applicants seeking tax credits and other government funding for Canadian television and film projects. She also helps clients to navigate the CRTC’s unsolicited telecommunications and do-not-call list rules, and Canada’s anti-spam legislation.
