Trent is co-chair of Shook’s Intellectual Property Practice Group and practices exclusively in the areas of patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation. He has been lead trial counsel in more than 100 intellectual property cases and manages a practice group of more than 60 attorneys. He has successfully tried cases on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants throughout the country involving a wide range of technologies. Trent often has represented individuals and large companies as plaintiffs in patent infringement litigation, obtaining more than $800 million in jury verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients. He also defends mid-sized to large companies in patent litigation, and has obtained multiple favorable defense verdicts in jury trials across the country. He and his team also have won summary judgment and other dispositive motion victories for his clients. Trent has received numerous accolades including Who's Who Legal, Patents; Intellectual Property Litigation, Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers; The Best Lawyers in America, Litigation - Intellectual Property; and being named in America's Top 100 High Stakes Litigators. He is on the firm's Executive Committee.
