Anthony is a partner specialising in crime including general crime, fraud, bribery and corruption and regulatory.
He qualified in 1972 and was made a partner at Offenbachs in 1973. He joined Simons Muirhead and Burton in 1976. He was a Recorder of the Crown Court for 18 years. He holds Higher Court Advocacy Rights (Crime).
Anthony has acted in numerous leading criminal cases such as The Gay News Trial, R v Skirving (prosecution under Obscene publications Act of drugs books), R v Henry Todd and others (Operation Julie), R v Howard Marks (Mr Nice), R v Magee and others (Brighton Grand Hotel bombing) R v Maxwell and others, the GSK SFO investigation, R v Ash and Makin (Bribery/Network Rail), SFO Tesco investigation, R v Rebecca Brookes and others (hacking trial) R v Neil Fox, Bloody Sunday (PSNI Criminal investigation) and application to CCRC for the late Stephen Ward (Profumo Affair).
Anthony was awarded a CBE in 2012 for services to theatre and speaks French.
Current directorships: Chair of Death Penalty Project; Chair of Royal Court Theatre. Trustee of the Heart of England Forest, Member of the Council of the all party organisation JUSTICE. LCCSA, Fraud Lawyers Association, International Bar Association.
