Andrew Spink KC is a highly respected advocate with nearly 40 years’ experience at the Bar and over 20 years as a successful silk. A recent Chair of the Commercial Bar Association of England and Wales, a Head of Outer Temple Chambers for 9 years until October 2022 and a part-time judge who has sat as a Deputy High Court Judge in the King’s Bench and Chancery Divisions of the English High Court and a Justice of the Astana International Financial Centre Court in Kazakhstan. He also sits as an arbitrator.
Andrew has an extensive business law practice, specialising particularly in disputes or advisory work relating to commercial contracts and trust deeds, freezing injunctions and asset recovery, pensions, banking and financial services, fintech, professional negligence claims, company law and insolvency issues. Awarded Data and Crypto Silk of the Year, Legal 500 UK Awards 2024.
In June 2024, Andrew secured a landmark decision in the Court of Appeal on behalf of members of the BBC pension scheme, as well as winning a retrial in a high profile crypto-fraud appeal in the DIFC Courts (Huobi).
Highly sought after for the provision of expert technical and strategic advice to clients early in proposed litigation or arbitration and in non-contentious situations (such as mergers and acquisitions, corporate insolvency or regulatory issues).
Internationally, Andrew is a registered DIFC Court advocate. He provides advice to the governing body on law reform, developing a bespoke Digital Assets Law (March 2024) and rewriting DIFC’s Law of Security.
