Career
Andrew Altschul mediates and arbitrates employment, ERISA and other civil litigation disputes. Andrew has over 30 years’ experience representing both businesses and individuals in all aspects of employment disputes, including ERISA claims. He has tried cases before juries, the bench, and arbitrators. He’s argued appellate cases before the 9th Circuit, DC Circuit, Oregon Court of Appeals and Oregon Supreme Court.
In 2020 (before we even learned about Covid), Andrew “hung up his gloves” to focus on helping others resolve their disputes outside the courtroom. Andrew believes that most parties benefit from finding a negotiated solution and loves helping facilitate that process.
He is an approved arbitrator and mediator for the American Arbitration Association, NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) and Arbitration Service of Portland. In 2025 was admitted into the Oregon Chapter of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals.
Before launching is solo ADR practice, Andrew practiced labor and employment law at two of the country’s largest law firms, and then co-founded Buchanan Angeli Altschul & Sullivan LLP in 2008, where he served as managing partner for 18 years.
