Career

Anastasios A. Antoniou is a practising Barrister (Inner Temple) and Advocate (Cyprus). He heads the Competition, TMT and IP practice at Antoniou McCollum & Co.

Anastasios established his law practice in 2009, after practicing as an associate at a top tier law firm. He also served as the country law leader of a global firm. He joined partnership in Antoniou McCollum & Co. in 2017.

He is the Cypriot member of the European Competition Lawyers Forum and regularly authors books and articles on competition law and international law.

His practice is consistently recognized by the Legal 500, which ranks him as a leading individual in EU law and competition law. He is admitted to the Hall of Fame of the Legal 500 for competition law and EU law in Cyprus.

Work Highlights

Technology: Anastasios advises global technology companies on their regulatory requirements in Cyprus with respect to artificial intelligence applications, the provision of digital services and the delivery of digital content. He also represents these companies in court, in complex litigation involving critical EU law and Cyprus law matters.

Telecommunications: Anastasios has acted in the largest telecommunications transactions in Cyprus, including handling the entire lifespan of the biggest network sharing deal between telecoms operators. He advises on highly complex, precedent-setting matters in electronic communications, including satellite communications.

Merger Control & Antitrust: Anastasios regularly represents major multinational corporations and global private equity funds in complex cases and filings before the Commission for the Protection of Competition in Cyprus.

Public Procurement and Infrastructure: Anastasios has advised clients on public procurement matters and infrastructure projects, ranging from the international airports of Cyprus to marine projects, amongst other large-scale public concessions.

Financial Services: Anastasios has acted for credit acquisition companies and credit institutions with respect to the sale of non-performing loans (NPLs) in the Cypriot market, as well as advising foreign banks on local banking matters, credit facilities, and financial regulatory compliance.
