Career

Founding partner Ana Cláudia Akie Utumi has more than 25 years of experience in tax and wealth management. She assists both corporate and individual clients in tax consulting, litigation matters and wealth planning issues, including international taxation (transfer pricing, double taxation treaties, withholding taxes, CFC, etc.), taxation on M&A and capital markets transactions, taxation on financial and capital markets, and general corporate/individual taxation matters.

Professional Memberships

Ana Cláudia serves as a member of the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB), the international entity in charge of regulating financial planning and CPF certification, and of the New York University International Tax Program’s Practice Council. She is also chair of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Brazilian branch.

Personal

Ana Cláudia holds a Ph.D. in Financial and Economic Law from the University of São Paulo (USP), a master in Tax Law from the Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), an MBA in Finance from IBMEC/Insper and a Graduation in Law from USP and in Business Administration from Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV).

Frequently acknowledged as one of the top tax practitioners and one of the top international tax specialists in Brazil, Ana Claudia is also ranked among the best world tax attorneys in Chambers Global, Chambers Latin America and Chambers HNW, as well as in other renowned lists and directories such as Who’s Who Legal, The Legal 500, Women in Tax, Tax International Review and LACCA Approved, among others. Tax professor at FIPECAFI, the most prestigious Accountancy School in Brazil, she is also guest lecturer at the University of Zurich LL.M. in International Taxation program.
