Amitava Majumdar

Mr. Amitava Majumdar, also known in the industry as “Raja,” is the founding Managing Partner of Bose & Mitra & Co., one of India's largest boutique law firms, exclusively working in the shipping, insurance, commodities, and oil and gas industries. Over the past decade, Mr. Majumdar has been rated as a Band 1 lawyer, and Bose & Mitra & Co. has been rated as a Tier 1 law firm by Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 in Shipping. Mr Majumdar has appeared as Arguing Counsel for the winning party in several reported judgments issued by the Supreme Court of India, Gujarat High Court, Bombay High Court, Kerala High Court, Madras High Court, Andhra Pradesh High Court and the Calcutta High Court dealing with inter alia Arrests, freezing injunction applications and applications for enforcement and execution of foreign arbitral awards and foreign judgments as also complex arbitrations on charterparty disputes and commodity sale contracts.
