Alexis Valençon

Alexis is the co-founder and Managing Partner of our Paris office and sits on the firm’s Governance Group. Thanks to his extensive expertise in complex disputes, he is a trusted advisor to leading French and foreign insurance and reinsurance companies, brokers, major policyholders and manufacturers on matters of insurance and reinsurance litigation and arbitration (in coverage, subrogation and defence disputes), in professional and product liability, property-energy, casualty, construction, financial lines, industrial risks, cyber risk and data protection (including the 2016/679 GDPR).

Alexis inter alia assists his clients in complex court-appointed investigations relating to the above. Relying on his litigation expertise, Alexis also helps them in drafting insurance contracts to ensure full compliance with French law.

Alexis is an active member of key professional associations including the Association Internationale du Droit des Assurances (AIDA), the Association des Professionnels de la Réassurance en France (APREF), the Association du Management des Risques et Assurances de l’Enterprise (AMRAE) and Reinsurance Legacy Association (IRLA).

A passionate educator, he shares his expertise through teaching Civil Procedure and (Re)Insurance Litigation & Arbitration at the Paris Insurance Institute of Dauphine University, at the Law Faculty of Le Mans University and at the Law Faculty of Montpellier University.

Considered as a leader in his field, he is also a sought-after speaker at conferences and colloquiums on matters of (re)insurance law and dispute resolution, and is a regular contributor to a variety of industry publications in relation with the same (inter alia: the Lamy Assurances, a leading insurance and reinsurance practitioners’ textbook in France; The Insurance & Reinsurance Law Review; The Class Action Law Review; etc).
